About
Founded in 1958, Xuanwu Hospital affiliated to Capital Medical University is a large Grade 3 and Class A comprehensive hospital featuring clinical practice and research on neuroscience and gerontology. It provides medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, prevention, health care, and rehabilitation.
With its 31 clinical departments and 11 technical departments, integrating traditional Chinese and western medicine, it offers microinvasive neurosurgery, neuropathology, general surgery, blood and medical imaging. It includes 7 research institutes, 8 laboratories for basic medicine, and 8 technical platforms, such as CHINA-INI and the National Center for clinical research of geriatric diseases.
Aims and Scope
The Xuanwu Hospital Portal on Biomedicine Hub is an interdisciplinary section, where researchers and clinicians share their findings, ideas, experimental results, and clinical experience.
Brain disorders, including cerebrovascular and neurological diseases, psychiatric and psychosomatic disorders and neuropsychiatric illnesses, are at the center in this section. By considering articles ranging from basic research to clinical practice, this section aims to provide clinicians with tools and insights on the complexity of the nervous system. Articles related to herbal medicine and pharmacology are also welcome.

Biography
Dr. Hongxing Wang obtained his MD in 1999 and his PhD in psychiatry in 2005 from Shanghai Second Medical University (now Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine). He is Professor and Director of the Division of Neuropsychiatry and Psychosomatics and has worked at the Department of Neurology, Xuanwu Hospital Capital Medical University.
Dr. Hongxing Wang leads and integrates clinical, research, education, rehabilitation, and public outreach activities related to psychotic disorders and psychological issues. He also focuses on brain pathophysiology and on the mechanisms of mental diseases using molecular and translational methods. He has published 2 books and more than 150 papers in peer-reviewed journals.
