The last 50 years has witnessed major advances in our understanding of the pathophysiology and pathobiology of chronic respiratory diseases. We have also gained deeper insight into the pathogenesis of chronic respiratory conditions and the pivotal role that chronic inflammation plays in disease pathogenesis and disease progression. Immunomodulation in Lung Diseases focuses on four common chronic respiratory conditions (COPD, asthma, interstitial lung disease, and lung cancer), the impact of chronic inflammation and immune dysregulation, and the potential for immunomodulation as a therapeutic option.
