Thematic Review Series

Series Editors: Coenraad F. Koegelenberg, Christoph Lange, Otto D. Schoch

It is estimated that roughly a quarter of the world’s population is infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Although the incidence of tuberculosis is thought to have peaked around 2003, a slow decline in incidence seems to have been reversed by the COVID-19 pandemic. This latest Thematic Review Series in Respiration is focused on this disease, including the early work of Anton Ghon and its relevance today, novel developments in the diagnosis and management of the disease, new drug treatments and possibilities of using mycobacteriophages, and post-tuberculosis lung disease.
